TOUR DETAILS;
The Algarve:
Your first impression of the Algarve is of its beautiful sandy beaches or its 27 golf courses but what you might not be aware are the impressive biking roads (many are new, which you can thank the EU for) over the Serra de Monchique Mountains with its breathtaking scenery and views right up to its summit at Foia at 3,000 feet.
The Tour:
Over the seven days in the Algarve you will be given a choice of a guided tour to places of interest like: the medieval Silves castle, the Fort of Henry the Navigator at Sagres, a day trip into Spain to ride over the Sierra mountains (in my opinion one of the best biking roads I’ve ever ridden on, in all of Europe) plus trips along the beautiful west coast and the many beaches.
I have a massive selection of roads and routes I can take you on during your stay in the Algarve.
One route for example (if interested) is called ‘The old road to Lisbon’ (as they now have a new motorway); it’s not for the faint hearted. It consists of over 30 miles of newly surfaced top quality roads with 295 bends, twisting its way over the Serra do Caleirao mountains. It’s mind blowing.
The Algrave has the famous Monchique mountains, which are a 'must do' not only for the roads but the amazing views to the coast some 30 miles away
Or if you want to chill out, opt for a lazy day out from biking and simply lounge around the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool with a cool beer.
The Plan:
The normal plan is Ferry from Plymouth to Santander.
Accommodation en route is a Hotels, first stop is Potes (Picos), 2nd is Caceres (Spain) then finally on to Loule (near Faro, Portugal)
In Loule, the Hotel is within walking distance to the picturesque Loule town, with its many restaurants and bars.
Loule is just 10 miles from the Algarve coast.
During your stay, I will be arranging daily ride outs on some of the most amazing and empty roads in Europe.
Return route is over two days via Salamanca (wonderful historic town).
Final day is a short ride to Santander and the Brittany Ferry with an overnight crossing to Plymouth.
Limited numbers:
The tour will have limited numbers, so it will be a very one to one experience, not like most guided tours which simply offer you a map and say “see you there”. This trip/tour will be done at a leisurely pace, so will suit those who have limited experience travelling abroad. Even if you are an advanced rider, there will be many opportunities to ride the challenging roads at a pace to suit you.
If any one wishes to fly out and hire a bike, this can also be accommodated (please ask for details) .
Fly Out option:
If your partner would rather arrange to fly to the Algarve than ride down, there are cheap flights available to Faro (Portugal). We can then arrange collection. This gives them the freedom to choose to attend the tour on the bike with yourself. This trip is very flexible. Let me know your thoughts and we’ll see what we can arrange.
Bike Hire:
Why not choose to Fly down and hire a bike direct from me. This would cost £120 per day which would include accommodation and unlimited mileage. Full payment would be needed in advance. For a 7 day fly-hire you will be able to meet up with the rest of the guys and attend the tour. This actually works out cheaper than riding your own bike down!
Bikes available are: Ducati 800 Scrambler, KTM 890 Adventure or CF Moto 450 MT.
Weather:
Thanks to the Gulf Stream, the Algarve has a very mild climate, with very little rainfall, so making it ideal biking weather. In May and October the temperature ranges between 20-25 deg‘C.
The Cost:
The tour can be very flexible to suit your needs.
The 14 day tour would have an inclusive price, which covers the ferry and Accommodation for Rider and Bike.
A pillion is extra.
This includes all accommodation and ferry crossings.
Your only expenses are: fuel, food, insurance and recovery.
Please note; You will need to arrange your own personal insurance and bike recovery.
A 14 day tour has an inclusive price of
only £1399 for rider and bike.
Pillion is an extra £899
